Nigra sum sed formosa. SACRED and BEAUTY of CHRISTIAN ETHIOPIA

The exhibition “Nigra sum sed formosa” opens in the historical head office of Cà Foscari University



The exhibition “Nigra sum sed formosa” opens in Venice form the 13th March till the 10th May 2009: it is the first exhibition on the religious Ethiopian art taking place in Italy.
The exhibition is characterized by a strong multimedia imprinting: there will be photographic images projected with high definition on the walls, videos, documentary, footage.
In every section a different soundtrack is foreseen.

The titol of this exhibition is taken from a famous verse of The Cantico dei Cantici celebrating the Saba Queen and chosen to remeber the old biblical, christian experience in the Ethipian country.
Among the most interesting works: icons, crosses, magic rolls, incisions, cartographic works of art as Fra Mauro's globe, rare books.
