In the XVI cent. the guild already had over 100,000 members
It is famous for its magnificent collection of paintings by Jacopo Tintoretto.

THE BUILDING.
Renaissance style (B.Bon A.Scarpagnino 1515-1560 )
The asymmetrical façade is in marble and richly decorated with columns with elaborate capitals, arches, timpanums and cornices with coloured inserts.
