Since so many lines go around Venice and also to Murano, at this stop you have
to pay special attention to the destination of each boat (look at the panels which
indicate the stops and you can also ask the "captain" before you go
aboard).
This are usually the main directions:
- S.Marco: [stop
S.Zaccaria] you get there taking line number 42 and going around the south-east
part of the city. The journey takes about 30 minutes. From here you can continue
with line number 1 to Accademia (12') and Rialto
(24')
- Ferrovia: with lines number 41 and 51 it takes 20 minutes to get to the
railway station S.Lucia along the Canale di Cannaregio.
- Piazzale Roma: with lines number 41 and 51 it takes 24 minutes to get
there along the Canale di Cannaregio.
- Lido: with line number 52 it takes 22 minutes to get to the stop S.Maria
Elisabetta.
- Giudecca: to get there you travel around half of Venice so it almost
makes no difference if you take line 41 towards the ferrovia (37 minutes to the
stop "Palanca") or line number 42 towards S.Zaccaria (34 minutes to the stop "Zitelle").
The second possibility is probably preferable if you want to see S.Marco
from the water.
The Fondamente Nuove are another main departure point for the islands in the north
of the lagoon:
- Murano: with lines 52 and 12 it takes 9 minutes to get to the island
of glass.
- Burano/Mazzorbo/Torcello: with line number 12 you can enjoy a 45-minute
journey amidst the tranquility of the lagoon..
