This is probably the easiest way to reach Piazza S.Marco even though it isn't
the quickest.
Once you come out of the station you will see the Canal Grande before you. The
itinerary starts by heading towards the Ponte degli
Scalzi that is to your left.
Do not cross the bridge and continue straight on along the Lista di Spagna
that brings you to Campo S.Geremia and the Ponte
delle Guglie.
From here, continue going straight on along Rio Terà S.Leonardo,
keep to the right for the Campiello and the bridge of the Anconetta and you
will find yourself in Rio Terà della Maddalena.
Cross one more bridge and you are in the Strada Nuova after having passed
campo S.Fosca with the statue of Paolo Sarpi.
From here, continue going straight on, and a little while later, after having
passed Campo S.Felice, the Strada Nuova opens into Campo Santi Apostoli.
You now have to turn right, cross the bridge and turn left, walking under the
porticos; then turn right into Calle Dolfin, Campiello Selvatico and Campiello
Corner where you have to cross the bridge that is to your right.
Keep going straight on along the whole of the Salizzada S.Giovanni Grisostomo
(with its homonymous church), Ponte dell'Olio, and
the Salizada del Fontego dei Tedeschi until you come
to Campo S.Bartolomeo with the monument of Carlo Goldoni.
Continue going straight on along Via 2 aprile and then, before you come to Campo
S.Salvador (with the homonymous church), turn
left into the Mercerie S.Salvador.
Continue in this direction until Ponte dei Bareteri and then along
the mercerie S.Zulian and its homonymous Campo (with church
annex).
You have almost reached your destination and all streets lead to S.Marco but
turn right and then left into the Mercerie dell'Orologio so that you walk
under the Torre dell'Orologio and arrive in PIAZZA
S.MARCO with a beautiful view.
You have finally made it.
