NB: on these pages you will find a list of the streets to follow if you are walking from Piazzale Roma to S.Marco going across the Ponte di Rialto.
The names in italics indicate the streets shown in our maps below that are also universally known to the inhabitants who you can also ask for help.

Once you have reached Piazzale Roma cross ponte Papadopoli which is on the opposite side of the large white building that houses the comune car park.
Once you have crossed the long steps of this modern bridge, go straight on, going past the Papadopoli Gardens and then below a double arcade that leads to the next bridge. Once you have crossed this bridge turn left (if you turn right you will be following the itinerary Accademia-S.Marco).

Once you have reached campiello dei Tolentini where you will find a refreshing fountain (the water is drinkable) you have to go under the sottoportico degli Amai and continue in "an almost straight line" to calle Amai, a bridge, calle Sacchere, calle delle Chiovere, a rapid right-left and you find yourself in Campiello delle Chiovere, then calle Tintoretto until you reach the beautiful campo S.Rocco . Here (on the left) the church and (on the right) the homonymous Scuola.

A little further ahead on the right you can see the absidal side of the Basilica dei Frari. Walking around the church you come to campo dei Frari. From here cross the bridge and follow the sottoportico of Ca' Zen that leads to a small campiello of the same name and then to calle del tagliapietra.
Turn left to the rio terà and then take the first right that brings you to the calle seconda dei saoneri . Go straight on until calle dei saoneri and then turn left.
From here, keep on going straight on to the la salizada S.Polo (after having crossed a bridge), campo S.Polo with its homonymous church, sottoportico della Madonnetta and campiello dei meloni .
Here you can take either of two twin streets (the one on the right has more shops) that bring you to campo S.Aponal and then calle dell'olio.

At this point, if you keep going straight on you find yourself walking along Ruga Rialto with its numerous shops; at the end turn right and you come to the steps of ponte di Rialto. You could also turn right into Rio terà S.Silvestro, go past the homonymous church (turn left and then the first right) and you find yourself in riva del vin and can see ponte di Rialto ahead on your left.

Cross the bridge and turn right into the riva del ferro towards the boat stops of line 82 until you reach calle larga Mazzini (before the sottopotico Manin).
Now go straight on until you reach Campo S.Salvador (leaving the homonymous church to your right), the mercerie S.Salvador, ponte dei bareteri (16), mercerie S.Zulian , Campo S.Zulian (with church annex).

You have almost reached your goal and all the streets lead to S.Marco but turn right and then immediately left where you find yourself in the mercerie dell'Orologio so that you walk under the Torre dell'Oroglogio and then reach PIAZZA S.MARCO with a beautiful view.

You have finally made it to your destination!
