INTERNATIONAL FILM
FESTIVAL
(end of August - beginning of September)
Every year open air cinemas are set up at the end of August in campo
S.Polo(as well as in Marghera). This is the start of the main event
in September: the international film festival also known as the
"Mostra del Cinema". During this period it is obviously the centre
of attention: newspaper articles, advertisements, provocations,
gossip, rumours about which American stars have arrived; cinema
lovers and ardent fans meet outside Palazzo del Cinema or the famous
hotels in the hope of getting an autograph or taking a photo of
their idol. Thus, the people taking part in this cultural event
are nearly always more interesting thatn the actual films.
