S. MARIA GLORIOSA DEI FRARI (Frari = Lesser friars) Founded in 1338 rebuilt in 1443 Façade is late Gothic style divided into three parts by pilasters with central rose window and two side windows. Curved crowning with three tabernacles. Venetian-Gothic doorway with statues by A. Vittoria (Il Redentore in the centre) and B.Bon (Madonna and St. Francis) The bell tower is the second highest in Venice after S. Marco (J. Celega and son) Latin cross plan with central nave and two aisles and T-shaped transept and six chapels to the sides of the high altar. Pointed-arch ceiling with cross vaulting with wooden "tie-beams" to link the 12 pillars.

Rizzo) Chapel of the Milanesi - polyptych with St. Abrose enthroned among Saints and playing Angels and above, the Coronation of the Virgina Corner Chapel (XV cent.) (extreme left) - tryptych with Saint Mark amongst the Angels and Saints (B. Vivarini - 1474) Pesaro altar - Madonna of Ca'Pesaro (Titian - 1526) lateral door - mausoleum of doge Giovanni Pesaro (B.Longhena - 1669) second altar on left - monument to Antonio Canova (Canova school - early 1800's) INFO.
