It
is not at all difficult to get to Venice: there are good connections with "the
rest of the world" via land, air and sea. The problems, however, start once
you've arrived.
We all know that reaching one's destination can sometimes be difficult if you
are visiting a city for the first time. Here in Venice everything is even more
complicated: it's not easy to cope with the limited number of car parks, the various
types of public road transport, the numerous boat lines and the intricate network
of "calle" (small streets), squares and bridges.
Those who suffer the greatest shock when they first come to this city are, without
a doubt, the species who regards the car as a second skin. Here in Venice he is
going to have to "shed his skin" if he wants to get around and walk
on the hard Venetian pavements, leaving his beloved four-wheels in a dark garage....
Seriously, before you get to Venice you must remember that you will probably either
be walking a lot or using the public transport.
Now this has been clarified, click on the index at the top to open the pages we
have prepared to make life easier for those who are visiting this "alien"
city.
You will find more useful information in the pages under getting
around in the city
